About Us and Objectives

Founded in 2008 and headquarted in Kaysville, Utah, Seven Still Waters has already touched the lives of over 250 children throughout the world. The goal of our domestic and international program is to provide children from low-income or single parent homes opportunity to get involved in an extracurricular activity that is of interest to them. Something that will give them the opportunity to discover talents, make new friends and excell in something they find enjoyable.

Seven Still Waters has been involved in the last year with two Utah elementary schools Wasatch Elementary in Clearfield and Beehive Elementary in Kearns have welcomed us as we have promoted children's books that teach principals of hope resilience, and optimism. Sixty-five children from low-income families received their own Dr. Seuss book. We have also partnered with Big Brothers Big Sisters to provide mentors to children who need more one-on-one attention.

School supplies were sent to help nearly 100 children in Ethiopia. A small pickup truck was purchased for an NGO group to feed orphans in South Africa. Logistics were implemented to help distribute food to children in Eastern Congo.

We at Seven Still Waters feel a tremendous responsibility to help those who are suffering, living in poverty, and who desperately need a good role model in their life. It is our hope that you will join us in our efforts to protect, nuture, educate and enrich the lives of children throughout the world.Together we can make the difference in the life of a child!

Our Goal:

It is our goal this year to provide at least 100 scholarships to domestic and international children and teens from 3 to 15 years old. These scholarships will give them the opportunity to participate in something they find enjoyable such as music, theater, sports leagues, scouting, art, language and other educational activities. These $700 scholarships will be awarded to children most deserving. Once a child starts a program then they are with us for life. We are committed to helping them until they reach adulthood. Our emphasis is always on the quality of service not the numbers of children we serve.

Starting In Our Own Back Yard:

It is reported that 1 in 9 children in Utah are living in poverty. A child is born into poverty in Utah every hour. Studies have shown that children who are raised in poverty are less healthy, trail in emotional and intellectual development, and do not perform as well in school. Studies also reveal that those enrolled in high quality early childhood education programs are more likely to complete higher levels of education, have higher earnings, be in better health and be stable in relationships, and are less likely to commit a crime or be incarcerated. -Children's Defense Fund

Seven Still Waters is also concerned about children who suffer closer to home. The goal of our local program is to provide “at risk” children with an opportunity to get involved in an extracurricular activity that is of interest to them. Something that will give them the opportunity to discover talents leading them to positive paths of influence.

The Democratic Republic of the Congo:

Seven Still Waters is currently focused on helping the 50,000 plus "Street Kids" in the Kinshasa. In the Congo and and internationally our objectives are to provide shelter, food, and education to many of the children living on the streets. Our main goal is to alleviate the traumatic stress that plagues children.

Seven Still Waters has been given a large plot of land outside the capital city of Kinshasa designated specifically for building of an orphanage and school. We plan to survey the land and have building plans ready by Jan. 2010.

We have partnered with a local NGO that will enable Seven Still Waters to have long-term success.

Education:

Seven Still Waters believes in the importance of education. We will promote children’s books that teach principles of hope, resilience, and optimism. These books will comfort, educate and nurture the mind of each child. The books will be chosen based on the specific needs of the particular region and will be translated into the children’s native language.

By the year 2011 we would like to involve the children in literature and illustration contests for the purpose of telling their own stories. We plan to publish a book with collections of stories told by the children.

Gardening:

Seven Still Waters will involve children in gardening. We will use some of the metaphors listed below to teach the children how the garden relates to their own life, and to help them understand how they can overcome adversity.
