Seven Still Waters 4 Missions:
- Encourage children to read first-rate literature 30 minutes a day at home.
- Encourage a parent to read to their child 20 minutes a day.
- Reward children with scholarships for reading 30 minutes a day. These scholarships focus in four areas General Education, Talents, Sports Leagues, and Literature.
- Support single parents with short-term emergency needs. Provide opportunities that will create independence.
Founded in 2008 and headquarted in Farmington, Utah, Seven Still Waters has already touched the lives of over 1,200 children and women throughout the world. The goal of our domestic and international program is to provide children from low-income or single parent homes opportunity to get involved in an educational activity that is of interest to them. Something that will give them the opportunity to discover talents, make new friends and excel in something they find enjoyable.
Seven Still Waters has been involved with several Utah elementary schools over the last few years including Wasatch Elementary in Clearfield and Beehive Elementary in Kearns. Hundreds of children from low-income families received their own book with a personalized message from their parent, teacher or mentor.
We at Seven Still Waters feel a tremendous responsibility to help those who are suffering, living in poverty, and who desperately need a good role model in their life. It is our hope that you will join us in our efforts to protect, nurture, educate and enrich the lives of children throughout the world. Together we can make the difference in the life of a child!
Premium Literature:
Seven Still Waters believes in the importance of education. We will promote children’s books that teach principles of hope, resilience, and optimism. These books will comfort, educate and nurture the mind of each child.
Aurelia Read Spencer Rogers Scholarship for the girls and Haven J. Barlow Scholarships for the boys:
These scholarships will give children ages 3 to 17 years old the opportunity to participate in something they find enjoyable such as music, theater, sports leagues, scouting, art, language and other educational activities. These $700 scholarships will be awarded to children most deserving. Once a child starts a program then they are with us for life. We are committed to helping them until they reach adulthood. Our emphasis is always on the quality of service not the numbers of children we serve.
“The number of kids living in poverty in Utah is now equivalent to the number of first and second graders in the state, plus”…
Utah has seen a "huge increase" in poverty levels as a result of the recession, according to an analysis of U.S. Census Bureau data released Tuesday by the American Community Survey. Utah's poverty rate jumped from 9.6 percent in 2008 to 11.5 percent in 2009. And while 10.5 percent of Utah children were in poverty in 2008 that has increased to 12.2 percent. Voices for Utah Children, a child advocacy group based in Salt Lake City, said the number of kids living in poverty in Utah is "now equivalent to the number of first and second graders in the state, plus about 20,000 of the third graders."

1 in 8 children in Utah live in poverty:
About 42,000 are in families enduring with incomes at 50 percent of the poverty level, the equivalent of a family of four making roughly $11,000 or less per year.
"The number of children who now live in extreme poverty in Utah would nearly fill Rice-Eccles Stadium," said Allison Rowland, research and budget director at the advocacy group Voices for Utah Children. "Utah places such a high value on family and children — it would make sense that we are willing as a state to invest more in our children or to support our children better in these terrible times."

International Efforts:
The goal on our international effort is to partner with an NGO that shares our vision and leverage 100% of your donation to go directly toward the cause of our mission. This will save time, money and valuable resources. NGO’s that work with local people from their own country will build long-term success.
It is our goal to have resources and partners available on all seven continents listed from largest in size to smallest Asia, Africa, North America, South America, Antarctica, Europe and Australia. Currently we have efforts underway in three of these seven continents, Asia, Africa and North America.
